Bengaluru: City lad Kush Maini added another feather in his cap, receiving two awards at the prestigious World Series Karting (WSK) championship awards at a gala event at the Adria International Track last weekend.
Kush, 13, came second in the overall championship in the WSK Euro series in the 60 mini category. The youngster also finished third in the overall championship in the WSK Master series which was held across four different tracks in Italy.
The WSK Series is regarded as the pinnacle of karting and the event is dedicated to the drivers who scored the first three positions in each category in the WSK Euro Series and in the WSK Master Series.
An ecstatic Kush said, “I have worked hard for many years as I started karting at the age of 5 and started racing the year when I turned 8. I worked my way through the JK Tyre National Championships as well as learning and winning in several tracks all over Asia.
“To be at the Gran Gala was a big motivation and I was able to pull off the win at the right time. In the end, it was such a great feeling that I am the only Indian driver to be invited to the Gran Gala. Receiving these awards has motivated me and now that I have moved up the category to race in the KFJ this year, I will be giving it my best shot in 2014 as well.”
