AP women advances in Tennis tourney
AP’s Nayanika D. Reddy, Saranya Nagpal advanced to the second round at the Secunderabad Club Open All-India ranking tennis tournament.
Andhra Pradesh’s Nayanika D. Reddy, Saranya Nagpal, S. Padamata, Rohit Sarwate and Saran B.?Reddy advanced to the second round at the Secunderabad Club Open All-India ranking tennis tournament in Hyderabad.
In the women’s singles first round, second seed Padamata defeated Aryali Chavan 6-3, 7-5 to make it to the second round while Nayanika saw off Karnataka’s Amala Amol Warrick 7-6 (7-4), 7-5. Saranya advanced after getting the better of Delhi’s Megha Sehrawat 6-3, 6-1 in their first round clash.
However, AP players Anuskha Bhargava and Neharika Rama had to pack their bags. Anushka lost 6-3, 2-6, 2-6 to top seed V. Dangwal of Delhi while Neharik was beaten 6-1, 6-2 by Delhi’s Arantxa Andrady.
In the men’s singles first round, Rohit beat Maharashtra’s Sagar Ahuja 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) to make it to the second round while Saran eased past Karnataka’s Sagar Manjanna 6-3, 7-5.
Rohit won the first set 6-2 easily enough. But in the second, Sagar pushed Rohit hard, forcing him to dig deep and win the second 7-6 (7-4) and with it, the match.
Also making it to the second round was Sai Tejas Mopuri, who triumphed in an all-AP first round contest. Sai broke little sweat to overcome Tejaswi Veerapalli 6-3, 6-3 to advance.
