Narsimha Rao’s name sent for Bharat Ratna
AP govt recommends former PM's name for the highest civilian honour this year.
Hyderabad: For this year’s nominees for highest civilian honours from Andhra Pradesh, former Prime Minister Pamulaparthi Venkata Narasimha Rao’s name has been recommended for Bharat Ratna posthumously.
Badminton player Pullela Gopichand has been proposed for Padma Bhushan in the field of sports.
Over 16 doctors namely, D. Nageshwar Reddy (gastroenterology) for Padma Bhushan, and Dr Dame Raja Reddy (Neurology), Dr P. Ranganadham (Neurology), Dr E. C. Vinay Kumar (ENT), Dr PC Rath (Cardo-ilogy), Dr Kalpalatha Guntupalli (Physician), Dr G. Suryanarayana Raju (Oncology), Dr Vidyasagar Dharmapuri (Pediatrics), Dr Ch. Krishna Murthy (Naturopathy), Dr Dasaradha Rama Reddy Tetali (Orthopedics), Dr Pradyut Waghray (Pulomonology), Dr Vengamma Bhuma (Neuroscience), Dr P. Vijay Anand Reddy and Dr Kammela Sreedhar (Urology) for Padma Shri were recommended.
From the domain of literature and education, Prof Shiv Kumar has been recommended for Padma Vibhushan, Dr Turlapaty Kutumba Rao for Padma Bhushan and Prof Vajja Sambasiva Rao, Koveta Suprasannacharya, Bhasayam Vijaya Saradhi and Prof Kolakaluri Enoch for Padma Shri.
Moving on to art, Nedunuri Krishna Murthy (music) has been recommended for Padma Bhushan.
For Padma Shri, Chittoor Revathy Ratnaswamy (vocal music), Jayaprada Rammurthy (flute), Gaddam Srinivas (Yakshaganam), Ashok Arroju (artisian), Sistla Ramakrishna Rao (nail art) Ali Mohammed (cinema), Alekhya Punjla (Kuchipudi) and Deepika Reddy (Dance) were recommended.
For social work, names of four people including Dr Rama Rao Anumolu, Ramklumar Goel, Uma Rani Padmanabhan and Dr Babu Rao Varma have been recommended.
