Submit Aranmula airport’s green impact: Kerala HC
HC directs the PCB to submit a report on whether they did any study on the airport project.
Kochi: Kerala High Court, on Wednesday, directed the Pollution Control Board (PCB) to submit a statement explaining whether they had conducted any study on the proposed Aranmula Airport Project.
A Division Bench comprising Justice T R Ramachandran Nair and Justice B Kemal Pasha issued the directive on a suo motu initiated proceedings based on Devaswom ombudsman's report against the project Pursuant to a directive KGS Aranmula International Airport Ltd produced, the project report and site clearance certificate, before the court.
The court had asked KGS to produce all study reports submitted by them, before various authorities, to implement the airport project as well as clearances, if any, obtained so far. The bench asked the Advocate Commissioner to file an additional affidavit based on the documents produced by KGS. The court posted the case to February 3.
Plea to control mobile towers
Kochi: A petition has been filed before Kerala High Court seeking a directive to construct mobile towers outside 500 meters of educational institutions. Kollam native Anoop and few others moved the court against the proposal of a mobile service provider to set up a mobile tower in Kollam district.
The petitioner argued that the apex court had made it clear that mobile towers should not be permitted near schools. The petitioners argued that the erection of mobile towers will lead to cancer and other serious diseases.
Plea to enforce population laws
Kochi: A petition has been filed before Kerala High Court seeking a directive for the implementation of National Population Policy, in order to secure and protect the social order of the country.
