Better than the boys

PeeCee may have been missing from the first trailer of Gunday, but director Ali Abbas Zafar assures us that she is pivotal to the project.

From what we’ve seen of 'Gunday' so far, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s an entirely hero-driven affair. With Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor (and not forgetting Irrfan Khan) in pivotal roles, and liberally splashed across all promotional material for the film, it seemed like leading lady Priyanka Chopra didn’t have much to do in it. However, if she was missing from the first trailer, she is very much part of the publicity campaign for the film now. The song-and-dance numbers that are being released now, especially, feature priyanka predominantly.

Her song "Tune Maari Entriyaan" has already become popular, and her much-hyped French cabaret-inspired dance number is being eagerly awaited.
Director Ali Abbas Zafar, whose previous film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan had Katrina Kaif take centrestage, says the leading lady was always an important part of his vision for 'Gunday' as well. “I needed not just a beautiful woman, but also an outstanding actress for Gunday. Priyanka is a stunner; she is the ideal woman with the kind of look that only an Indian woman can boast of. As for her acting abilities, she has proven that time and again. Give her anything and she just makes it happen,” says Ali.

PeeCee’s chemistry with Ranveer and Arjun is as interesting as the bromance between the two men. “If Arjun is like fire and Ranveer, the wind, then Priyanka is water. She dilutes everything,” says Ali.
