DC editor wins award for science writing

Bangalore: The Vision Group on Science and Technology headed by noted scientist and Bharat Ratna, Dr C.N.R. Rao has chosen Senior Editor, Deccan Chronicle, B. R. Srikanth besides four others for "Science Communicators Award" on Saturday. While the other four are either scientists or writers associated with science magazines, Srikanth is the only professional journalist selected for this coveted award for 2013-14.
The Vision Group has hailed contributions made five writers including Srikanth for popularising science and technology through their write-ups and books. Srikanth was chosen for the award for his large number of articles and news features on Science & Technology, Space & defence.
Srikanth has worked with various publications, dailies and new agencies in the last two and half decades of his professional life. Along with Srikanth, is Mohan Sundara Rajan. a renowned science communicator with four decades of experience in print and electronic media. He is the author of over 18 popular science books which includes Nanotechnology, Space technology, Wireless Communication and several works of Science fiction.
Dr Vasundhara Bhupathi is a doctor by profession and Honorary Secretary of Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat, and President, Karnataka Lekhakiyara Sangha, has 38 books to her credit, some of which have been translated into English and Hindi. She was awarded the UNICEF Award for Journalism in 2007.
Dr Ashok S. Alur, who is Agricultural Scientist presently working at University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot, has authored more than 52 scientific bulletins in Kannada, English and other regional languages.
Dr N. Gopalakrishna was the Editor at the NIMHANS, and has written more than 30 popular books in Kannada and English.
