Sumanth is happy with the audience response for Emo Gurram Egaravachu. “I tried a different genre and it was accepted.” But he is happier because his grandfather, late Akkineni Nageswara Rao liked the movie. He said, “My grandfather laughed as he watched parts of the film, and liked it.”

Sumanth had kept mum about the female character, he played in the film. “When I removed my moustache, he (ANR) asked me ‘who is playing the character’, but I didn’t respond.” says Sumanth, adding that later the late actor realised it himself. The actor didn’t give a second thought to the character, when the director asked him.

“In our drawing room, there is a big portrait of my grandfather, as he too had portrayed a woman,” said the actor.

Nothing is concrete about the remake of Devadas his grandfather’s classic “When I was asked which film of my grandfather’s would I like to remake, all I said is that I was interested in doing an updated version of Devadas,” says the actor.
