Lucknow: Politics, they say, guides economics and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is doing it rather well. Grey and brown mufflers have flooded the market after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal turned them into a style statement of sorts.
He was seen wearing his mufflers at the swearing in ceremony, inside the Vidhan Sabha, during his dharna, at the Republic Day parade and even at the Presiednt’s reception.
These mufflers, called Kejriwal mufflers, are not only proudly displayed in shops in Lucknow and Allahabad but sellers are even offering discounts up to 20 per cent on these Kejriwal mufflers.
“This year, there is a huge demand for grey and brown mufflers because of Mr Kejriwal. Most of us filled up our stocks with these mufflers and now we are selling them at a discount,” he informed.
Garment store owner Kushal Taneja said, “Yes I support AAP. That is why this discount. I am selling these Kejriwal mufflers on a no-profit-no-loss basis.”
He said that with the onset of summer, he plans to sell ‘mufflers in cotton’. “We will be having polls in summer and these cotton mufflers will be handy in campaigning to wipe off the sweat,” he added.
