Kochi: The two bombs thrown by notorious goon Maradu Aneesh’s aides at an apartment near Deshabhimani Junction near here last month were supplied by a goon named Varachoor Shelvam from Tamil Nadu, the police said.

The cops now have now spread their net not only to Munnar but also Madurai too in a bid to capture the notorious goon Shelvam, who is also a close friend of Maradu Aneesh.

The clue about Shelvam’s alleged involvement came to light when the special investigation team, formed to probe the bombing case, questioned Maradu Aneesh and his aides named Lenin Soma, Sajith and Sam Lonan.

Aneesh (29) of Anikkattil House at Maradu in Kochi, who was in Salem jail in connection with a spirit smuggling case there was earlier brought to the city for questioning to collect details about the conspiracy behind the bombing incident.

According to police, the bombs were thrown at the apartment after being so directed by Aneesh and Lenin Soma.

“Aneesh directed Sajith and Sam Lonan to meet Shelvam at Madurai and get the bombs from him. The duo also bought a motorbike from Palakkad which was used in the mission. Later they went to an abandoned house at Kothamangalam and stored the bombs there for a week with the help of Lenin,” the police said.

“Finally on December 21, they arrived on that motorbike and went to Kollamparambil Road near Deshabhimani Junction and threw the bombs at the Revathy Court Complex apartments, in which one Rajesh was staying. He was the main aide of Bhai Nazeer, the rival goon of Maradu Aneesh,” the police added.

Lenin Soma (31) of Nellikkuzhi in Kothamangalam had surrendered before the Ernakulam North police while Sajith (26) of Kaniyamangalam near Alathoor in Palakkad had surrendered before the Salem court earlier in connection with the kidnapping case of a councillor there. Sam Lonan had also surrendered in Salem in a spirit smuggling case earlier.
