Kozhikode: The Interpol is still clueless about 12 Keralites who are wanted on charges of terrorism in the country. They are among the 19 Keralites for whom  the CBI had issued an Interpol red corner alert. In terms of those still wanted in terror cases, Kerala stood second to Maharashtra. Most of them are natives of Ernakulam.

The red corner alerts  do not even have the photographs or physical description of some of these wanted persons. The Interpol alerts are made with the descriptions and details handed over to the CBI by the investigation wings of local police or SITs.

Some of these  alerts have only details regarding their place of birth and charges slapped against them, making it difficult to trace them, who may still be planning  terror strikes or propagating their ideas in the country.

The key persons in the most wanted list are Chenaparmbil Mohammed Bashir,  Aluva, Kadappuram Shihab, Kasargod, Karimberypadi Najeeb  Ernakulam, Kizhakkanayil Azeez Odackali,  Eranakulam,  Kochupeedikayil Sabir, Marakkarakandi,  Kannur, Kotta Abdul Saboor, whose native place is not known, Marangattu Nasar, Ernakulam, Mohammed Ashar,  Kolavallur, Thalassery, Mudassery Savad, Ernakulam, P.P. Yousuf, Koyyam, Taliparamba, Pottinkal Suhaib, whose native is not known, and Thotathukudi Sajil, Ernakulam. Significantly , there have been recent reports regarding the reactivation of sleeping terror modules in the Malabar area.

“There are no efforts to nab them, who are involved in cases across the country. Most of them are well-trained terrorists and they may continue to plan and execute such strikes. They may also be working to get new recruits to their organisations,” a senior police official said.

Apart from the terrorists, three in the red corner alert list are wanted for counterfeiting/fake currency cases.
Dr Edadan Omana, who is wanted in connection with the murder of her husband, is also there in the list. Tamil Nadu police, who are  investigating the case, seem to have forgotten  her.
