CSI upbeat on India's readmission into Olympic group shortly
CSI is upbeat on India's return to Olympic fold very shortly.
New Delhi: Clean Sports India (CSI) today applauded the International Olympic Council for bringing about reforms in the IOA and expressed hope that India will return to the Olympic fold soon.
"CSI applauds the efforts of IOC and its members in bringing about most of the reforms that CSI has been demanding since 2010. We are hopeful that India will return to the Olympic fold at the earliest and our athletes will compete under the Indian flag," CSI, a movement for a corruption-free sports in the country, said in a statement.
"CSI's efforts in fighting corrupt and charges framed persons from being part of the Olympic movement has resulted in (Suresh) Kalmadi, Lalit Bhanot and (Abhay Singh) Chautala, officially out of the Indian Olympic Movement," it said.
However, CSI said that it will continue to demand incorporation of age and tenure guidelines, smaller Executive Committee and priority to Olympic sports in the general body of the IOA.
CSI also said the newly elected president N Ramachandran should come clear on the allegations against him.
"CSI also hopes that the allegations that are emerging in the media against the Mr Ramachandran will be clarified by him and the Sports Ministry to clear the issue which will ensure the smooth functioning of the Indian Olympic body," it said.
"CSI is hopeful that the newly elected team of the IOA will further work for the cause of sports in the country by incorporating all the directives of the IOC and involve sportspersons to actively contribute to the Olympic movement in India."
