Samsung: Will be the top tablet vendor in 2015
The Korean manufacturer said that it will become the top vendor over Apple in 2015.
BARCELONA: Samsung, one of the largest smartphone manufacturers, said it that in 2015 it will rise to the top, as compared to Apple, as reported by ZDNET. “We will grow much higher than the market expectations of 20 percent this year,” said JK Shin, co-CEO and head of Samsung’s mobile division during a press conference at Mobile World Congress. “Next year, we will become a leader in tablets,” he added.
He also added, “Every year was difficult (in the mobile market) but this year, the market’s growth itself is expected to slowdown. But we will still fair better in the first quarter compared to the second half of last year”.
Even though Samsung is the top vendor in smartphones, they are still behind its rival, Apple, in the tablets sector. Apple controls over 30 percent of the global market share as compared to Samsung’s 20 percent last year, according to local market watchers.
The Galaxy Note Pro is the first 12.2-inch Android tablet unveiled this month. Samsung will also unveil its flagship handset, the Galaxy S5, this week. On Sunday, the Korean tech giant also showed-off its second-generation smart watch, the Gear 2. Local officials stated that Samsung plans to maintain control over handsets, tablets and wearable devices.
