Sony presents ultra-thin Xperia Z2 tablet
Lighter and more feature-rich than Apple’s iPad Air.
Sony has grabbed attention with its aggressively minimal design on its new 10-inch tablet, the Xperia Z2. Sony claims that the 6.4 mm thick, 440 gram tablet is the slimmest and waterproof and is available in two colours—black and white. The tablet packs in an APQ8074+MSM8974AB Quad-core processor along with an Adreno 320 graphics processor. The Xperia Z2 features a 10.1-inch TFT, an 8.1 mega pixel camera, 2.2 mega pixel front facing camera, 3 GB of RAM, (up to) 16 GB of built-in storage, expandable up to 64 GB and certifications of IPX5/8 (waterproof) & IP5X (dust-resistant). The Z2 will sport Google’s Android Kitkat operating system.
As reported by The Verge, all potential excess has been done away with from the tablet which leaves it lighter than the slimmed-down iPad Air. It also touts extra features that Apple's slate can't match.
The Xperia Z2 tablet is waterproof; the speakers are moved to the front with a new S-Force Surround Sound feature, and a digital noise cancelling special headset will be included in the box. Overall, it seems like a great and almost unfeasible evolution to the Z tablet.
