Deo praises Congress for bifurcation
Srikakulam: Bifurcation of the state will be a boon to backward regions like north coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema and help them grow faster, said Union minister for panchayat raj and tribal affairs, Mr V. Kishore Chandra Deo. He toured Palakonda and Viragattam mandals on Sunday and laid foundation stones for development activities on the occasion. Mr Deo said that the Congress-led UPA government took the right decision in bifurcating the state and said that Seemandhra will develop faster if people’s representatives and officials utilised funds under special packages in the right way.
The minister reiterated his earlier demand that Visakhapatnam should be made capital of the residuary state as it has all the natural resources and basic facilities like sea coast, ports, national highway, industries, 45,000 acres of open land and is the second biggest city in Andhra Pradesh. Replying to a query from the media, on whether a capital city must be situated in the middle of the state or country, he explained that the geographical area’s resources and atmosphere are more important for development.
