A new lease of life for Srimurali

Actor Srimurali's comeback in Ugramm.

It was worth waiting three years for this film. The entire team of Ugramm especially Srimurali, who was struggling to make a comeback have done a great job.

Ugramm, speaks volumes about the brilliant show put up by Prashanth Neel, the director. His technical excellence and narrative style is impeccable.

It has been a great attempt, considering that actor Srimurali’s career was awaiting a hit film for sometime now.

It is yet another underworld tale. It revolves around several characters with Srimurali playing the role of the protagonist. Despite a series of movies based on the underworld and rowdy-ism in the past, Ugramm makes a good impression and the credit goes to Prashanth Neel and the team. Haripriya, who appears without make-up has done justice to her character.

However, the film has been stretched a bit, with a bookish narrative and characters, which just keep appearing and vanishing. It takes off with a lengthy description before the heroine is abducted by a gang, later to be rescued by the hero. The gang is on a mission to trace her (heroine) at the behest of a politician who is bent upon taking revenge from his old partner in crime, the father of the girl, who is settled abroad.

Music scored by Ravi Basru is another plus point barring the background score which is a bit too high pitched in sound effects. It does suit the masses who love action and glorify heroism.

No matter how it fares at the box office, Ugramm has given a new lease of life to Srimurali’s career, who emerges as a sole winner along with the director.
