Late from Rahul meet, woman 'killed' by husband
Angry she had come home late, husband set her on fire
Guwahati: A Congress worker was allegedly burnt to death by her husband in Assam on Friday night, after she came home late following an interactive session with party Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.
She was, however, not among the three women who were seen kissing Rahul Gandhi at a session during his recent two-day visit to Assam.
According to sources, the husband was infuriated when she came home late. They had an argument following which he allegedly set her on fire. He set himself ablaze too and was rushed to the hospital. The police have not been able to speak to him yet.
The woman is a local panchayat ward leader in Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s constituency.
Gandhi, who is touring the country ahead of Lok Sabha polls, was welcomed in Jorhat with kisses on his cheeks and forehead.
