No Ordinance route for anti-graft Bills
The Congress party postponed its plan to introduce some key bills in the parliament which are backed by Rahul Gandhi
New Delhi: The Centre on Friday postponed its decision to bring Ordinances on anti-graft Bills pushed by Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. Top officials had apparently developed cold feet over taking the Ordinance route, as the EC can notify Lok Sabha elections any time. With this, they said, it would be in a bad taste to rush through the Ordinances, while raising doubt that the President may not be pleased to give his assent.
As soon as the Cabinet took up the agenda for the day, Cabinet secretary Ajit Seth announced that items relating to the Ordinances stand “postponed”, informed sources. However, Congress sources indicated that a meeting of the Union Cabinet is likely to take a decision soon on promulgation of these Ordinances.
