Two cops killed as militants open fire at police vehicle

Srinagar: Two policemen were killed on Monday when suspected militants opened fire at their vehicle outside a court in Pulwama district of Kashmir.

According the police, the suspected militants opened fire at a police vehicle parked outside a court in Pulwama town, 35 kms from here. Special Police Officers Khursheed Ahmad and Mukhtar Ahmad were seriously injured and rushed to a nearby hospital where they succumbed, police said.

Two civilians were also hurt during the incident, which sparked panic in the busy area. The area was cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to nab the militants responsible for the incident. So far no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack.
