Daniel Richardsson beat Martin Johnsrud Sundby on the final straight
Oslo: Sweden's Daniel Richardsson showed his strength Saturday when winning the classic 50-kilometer race at Holmenkollen in 2 hours 7 minutes and 29.5 seconds with a strong sprint finish, beating World Cup leader Martin Johnsrud Sundby of Norway on the final straight.
Russia's Olympic champion Alexander Legkov was distanced in the final kilometers and ended third.
Sundby maintained his overall lead in the cross-country World Cup with 1127 points ahead of Chris Andre Jespersen of Norway (739 points) and Legkov (686).
Czech skier Lukas Bauer had taken an early lead but Legkov, Sundby, Richardsson and Finland's Iivo Niskanen worked their way up.
With a little more than 10 kilometers left, Sundby, Legkov and Richardsson broke away, and in the last two kilometers, Richardsson and Sundby pulled away for a final sprint.
