BCCI likely to announce IPL 7 venue today
UAE, Bangladesh and South Africa are keen to host IPL 7
Mumbai: In all likelihood, Board of Control for Cricket in India will announce the venue for IPL 7 on Monday.
The BCCI was under pressure from IPL team owners and sponsors to host IPL in India. While the BCCI was in the favour of having IPL in India, the dates of the first half of IPL are clashing with 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Earlier, the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said "We have conveyed to the BCCI that we will not be able to provide security to IPL matches. Our forces will be deployed for security of Lok Sabha elections. So, how we can give them forces. Following this, IPL chairman Ranjit Biswal said, “60 to 70 per cent of the matches in the seventh edition of the Twenty20 tournament will be held in India.”
UAE and Bangladesh along with South Africa have expressed their interest to host the T20 tournament.
