Recently, Bombay-based actress Madhurima was in the news for wrong reasons. The actress who had a stint in Telugu and Hindi is making her debut with a Vinay flick titled Serndhu Polama. The movie has been directed by ace Malayalam filmmaker Anil Kumar who has done 39 films in M’town with biggies like Mammootty, Mohanlal and Jayaram and is trying his hand in Tamil now.

The movie is a romantic suspense thriller, fully shot in New Zealand where the story takes place. While Vinay essays the the role of lead hero Abhi, Madhurima has been cast opposite him as Sherin. Telugu hero Nandu, Preethi Paul from Australia, Thambi Ramaiah, Thalaivasal Vijay and Arun form the rest of the cast.

Recently, Anil had alleged that Madhurima had been unprofessional while shooting in NZ and gave them a lot of problems. So, according to sources, Anil had no choice but to increase Preethi’s part; we hear that even a song has been added for her which was not on the agenda.

When Anil was contacted by this newspaper, he did admit that Preethi’s part had been extended. “The first 10 days, Madhurima was all right and I do agree that she is a good performer. But it all began after that when she started showing attitude towards all of us. She didn’t keep to timings and turn ed up late on the sets every day.

She never seemed to understand the pains that the producer and technicians underwent in an alien location because of her behaviour.  Our schedules were going haywire and we were wasting a lot of time. Permissions and work permits were given for a particular time frame only. I altered the script a little bit and increased Preethi’s portions and completed the shoot as planned. Preeti is also a talented girl.”

The film, he says, is “about friendship when romance comes in between. The story of Serndhu Polama deals with the children of a few people who relocate from Tamil Nadu to New Zealand for employment. I am not talking much about the parents, but it starts with Vinay, Madhuri, Nandu and Preethi’s episodes.  Thambi Ramaiah plays a Casanova in SP. There’s a suspense element in it.  Music by Vishnu Mohan is very good,” he adds.
