THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be campaigning for a few party candidates in the state. BJP national president Rajnath Singh, senior leader L.K.Advani, Opposition Leader Sushma Swaraj and a set of second-rung leaders will be coming here soon. A majority of these leaders will be campaigning for their star candidate O. Rajagopal.

Modi had come to Thiruvananthapuram twice in a gap of a few months due to which the state leadership has recommended that he campaign in the northern districts of the state. BJP state president V. Muraleedharan said Modi would be in the state in the last week of the campaign.

“We are trying to have him for a day here. Other senior leaders as well as second-rung leaders too will be coming to the state for active campaigning. Since most of these leaders themselves are candidates, they have additional responsibilities. But candidates like Modi, Advani and Swaraj don’t have to actively take care of electioneering in their constituencies unlike the other candidates”, said Muraleedharan.
