Sensex gains; overseas investors remain buyers

The BSE Sensex gains 0.13 per cent, while the broader Nifty is 0.2 per cent higher, recouping losses from the previous session, on the back of higher regional shares.

Blue chips broadly recovered from Thursday's falls. State Bank of India gains 1.6 per cent after falling 1.81 per cent on Thursday.

Metal stocks are also in favour on value buying. Tata Steel gains 2.1 per cent, and Hindalco Industriesis up 2.6 per cent. But Axis Bank is flat after the government launched an offer to sell up to a 9 percent stake in to raise up to $935 million.
