She started by imitating her favourite heroines in front of the mirror when she was  a little girl. That little girl has grown up and become a pretty actress. With two projects in her kitty — Njan directed by Renjith with Dulquer Salmaan and Shajoon Karyal’s Sir CP opposite  Jayaram — Jyothi Krishna is busy in M’town.

Jyothi Krishna feels blessed that she has got the chance to work in Renjith’s movie. “Renjith sir’s film came as a surprise to me. I met him for the first time at a dubbing studio, where Tini Tom chettan introduced me to him and we chatted for some time. Later, he asked me to send some of my recent photos. Soon after that, he called and asked me to read KTN Kottur, Ezhuthum Jeevithavum by T.P. Rajeevan and call him back,” she says.

For one who is not an ardent reader, the request came as a surprise. “I was bewildered since I was not aware of the reason behind it. I read it and called him. He asked me how I felt about the story. I gave my insights and pat come another question — whether I am ready to  be a part of a film based on the story.”
Jyothi plays Lakshmikutty in the film. “I can’t reveal much about my character. There are three strong women characters in the movie and I am one of them. I am delighted to play this role because while reading the book, I automatically  noticed Lakshmikutty’s character.”

She feels that films have helped in developing her personality. “Before films happened, I was a complete village belle who didn’t have any sense of fashion or of presenting oneself. This industry has helped to break out of my cocoon. I was a shy of meeting people, but now I am confident of  talking to anybody.”
