Thiruvananthapuram: The state police will seek about 25 companies of police force from the centre and other states for security arrangements during  the  Lok Sabha polls. The police have already stepped up vigil across the state.

Already,  about 2,000 polling booths in the state have been identified as sensitive. A final list of sensitive booths will be decided after consultation with the Election Commission.

DGP Mr. K.S. Balasubramanian held a video conferencing with top police officers from the rank of district police chief and above on Wednesday to review the security arrangements. Similar meetings will be held in the coming days to finalise the security plans. Top police sources said that one of the prime concerns of the police  would be the security of Naxal-prone areas.

A heavy bandobast of armed police  will be made at the polling stations in such areas.  All major political meetings and processions are being videographed by the police. The sensitive booths are identified considering the political situation in each locality. Since the situation could change any time, the final list of sensitive booths will be prepared only two three days prior to the polls, said police sources.
Several companies of police force from the state will be deployed for election-related security arrangements in other states also.
