Tirumala: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams EO, M.G. Gopal, along with fire services teams, police personnel and TTD vigilance sleuths, close to 200 men, rushed to the Srivari Mettu spot and with the help of six fire tenders battled for close to two hours to put out the fire.

The Srivari Mettu route was being sealed off for the safety of the devotees. Power supply in the region was cut off with the fire burning low-lying electrical cables.

Meanwhile, another fire broke out, deep in the forests, at the 16th hairpin bend on the first ghat road. TTD officials stationed fire tenders and a team of fire services, TTD vigilance, police and forest department personnel to douse the fire in case it gets closer to the road.

The third fire broke out in the inaccessible ranges of the Seshachalam forests close to the Mangalam colony in Tirupati.

TTD top officials held a meeting with the head of the departments of various wings towards the end of the day to re-look into the situation with fires erupting yet again in the Seshachalam ranges on Friday.
