K Chandrashekhar Rao refuses to split Andhra Pradesh Bhavan
He said it’s the 'jagir' of Telangana since it was constructed by the Nizam
Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday said that his party will not accept the division of AP Bhavan in New Delhi, between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He said it’s the “jagir” of Telangana since it was constructed by the Nizam.
He slammed Congress leaders Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Damodar Raja Narasimha and D. Srinivas for criticising him over his recent remarks that Seemandhra employees should not be given “options” to work in Telangana.
Mr Rao remarked, “They say I am trying to provoke people by making such remarks. I am only demanding justice for Telangana. What is wrong in that? What is the benefit of getting a separate state, if over 80 per cent employees from Seemandhra region continue to work in the Secretariat, which is the heart of Telangana? If the same continues then when will our students and unemployed people get jobs? I want them to make their stand clear on whether they approve giving options to Seemandhra employees to work in Telangana.”
Mr Rao categorically stated that his fight for Telangana was not over with the formation of Telangana state, but he will continue to fight till the interests of Telangana are protected.
“The panchayathi (dispute) is not over. Injustice is still being done to Telangana state with regard to jobs, division of Secretariat and AP Bhavan. The Centre should accord special status to Telangana similar to Andhra since it is Telangana which suffered the most, on account of discrimination by Seemandhra leaders. We have to continue our struggle to achieve these goals,” he said.
