Elvis Presley’s one strand of hair to fetch £5,000
Elvis Presley’s ebony hair, displayed in the middle of a record and framed picture of him, will be up for an auction
The famous single strand of “King of Rock and Roll” Elvis Presley’s ebony hair, which is displayed in the middle of a record and framed picture of him, will be up for grabs at an auction house in Northumberland. A letter from a man called Thomas Morgan, who knew Presley and claims to have been a friend of the singer’s hairdresser, Homer Gilleland, will also go under the hammer, reported Daily Express.
In the letter, Morgan wrote that Gilleland accompanied the star on many tours and the bag of hair clippings he built up was one of his prized possessions. Jim Railton, from the Northern Auction Centre, Northumberland, said he is confident of the item’s authenticity. “It could make £ 50 or £5,000 but it is a rare thing and we are quite confident it is what it says it is,” Railton said.
