HYDERABAD: Home secretary T.P. Das has asked IPS officials to expedite the division process in the police department, as things were moving too slowly.

He held a meeting with the police brass along with Director General of Police B. Prasada Rao on Tuesday. It was proposed during the meeting that the DGP’s office, CID headquarters and Intelligence headquarters of the state police should be divided in two to cater to both states. Certain floors of these buildings will be allotted to Telangana and others to Andhra Pradesh.

It was also decided to have a combined reporting system for both Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates as merger of  both will not be possible without an Act.
As law and order in the GHMC area will be under government control, there shall be a uniform reporting system and better coordination between both the commissionerates.

A senior IPS official said, “The Telangana Assembly has to pass a Bill to merge both commissionerates. Till then there shall be a uniform system and better coordination in all proposals and distribution of forces and funds depending on the need.”
At the meting most IPS officials said that they were busy with the election process and hence couldn’t focus on the division process.
