Hyderabad: Police arrested three more accused in the Hima Bindu gangrape and murder case. M. Hima Bindu, the wife of bank manager M. Sai Ram, was raped and murdered on March 15 by six men. Her body was found in the Bandar canal on March 17.

Janapala Krishna, a 24 year old electrician, Lankapalli Ramana, 29, and 21 year old Valupuri Durga Rao, alias Kayya, who lived in the victim’s neighbourhood in Yenamalakuduru, were arrested by the Patamata police. One more accused in the case is absconding. Prime accused Sk. Subhani, 27, and S. Gopi Krishna, 24, were arrested on Monday.

DCP M. Ravi Prakash said, “We would produce the five accused, including Subhani and Gopi Krishna, before the court on Thursday. The one absconding accused too will be nabbed soon. We are collecting all scientific and circumstantial evidence so that capital punishment can be given to the accused.”

Mr Ravi Prakash also called Subhani a sex maniac. He said Subhani often visited brothels and was an accused in another rape case in 2003. The other accused were his friends. All of them had hatched the plot to rape, kill and loot the victim.

“Subhani had tried to divert attention of the investigators and family members by dropping hints that the victim may have eloped. Subhani had called the victim’s son and had said that his mother did not want to be with her family,” Mr Ravi said.
