Cyberabad cops will have to provide bandobust and curb violations of Model Code of Conduct for elections
Hyderabad: With the declaration of election dates, Cyberabad cops will sweat more over the next 40 days. They will have to provide bandobust and curb violations of Model Code of Conduct for five different elections urban local body, Panchayat Raj bodies, gram panchayat, Assembly and Lok Sabha polls. Unlike Hyderabad Commissionerate, Cyberabad Commissionerate also covers parts of the neighbouring districts which do not come under GHMC.
Cyberabad commissioner C.V. Anand on Thursday said that in order to curb flow of illegal money, liquor and gifts, they have set up 30 static surveillance teams and 31 flying squads. “We have also set 12 inter-district border check posts, in collaboration with the district police.” “We have so far executed 199 NBWs and seized licenced 1,463 firearms following EC’s order,” he added. Mr Anand said that 500 polling stations in Cyb-erabad limits were identified as critical. “Over 8,000 civil police and central armed forces will be deployed,” he said. Mr Anand added 42 cases of model code violation were booked and Rs 5.4 crore seized.
