Lucknow: Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh said on Friday that his party was preparing to field strong candidates against Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi from Rae Bareli and Amethi respectively.
“The party is discussing about the several choices that we have and an announcement will be made soon,” he said while talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function.
Referring to the statement made by Congress candidate form Saharanpur, Imran Masood, against Mr Narendra Modi, the BJP president said that this reflected the disappointment in the Congress which was a result of Mr Modi’s soaring popularity.
Asked about the change in the Samajwadi candidate on Thursday, Mr Singh said,” Just wait and watch how political parties change their candidates in other seats too.”
He said that he had always practiced the politics of ‘humanity and justice’ and it was because of this that he was getting support from every section of society.
Mr Singh, on Friday, inaugurated his election office in Lucknow with a traditional ‘havan’ and appealed to all to vote for the BJP.
