'BungleBerry?'
Struggling BlackBerry attempts to woo city’s developers.
BlackBerry’s Hyderabad event, aimed at attracting developers to populate its anaemic app store, had a rather slim turnout just three people! This is what happened.
The event was scheduled for 2 pm, Saturday. But a bizarre notification error went out from Vasudeva Rao Thumati, BB’s representative, moving the time to 8.30 am. Organisers were unable to confirm how many turned up in the morning as they themselves arrived at 10.30 am. Vasu, however, had to bear the brunt as participants showed him the notification, later, during the meet.
Sources from the meet claim there was another problem, disappointed Android enthusiasts. “The event was about converting Android apps into BlackBerry automatically. They should have just focussed on that. But the message sent out mentioned it was a BlackBerry developer conference. There was, however, some joy coming in from the meet later.
“It was not an absolute fail. People did turn up and everyone just laughed off the goof-up. BB is now planning for another meet-up,” added a source.
