HAPPY TIMES: The members of Foodies in Hyderabad on one of their routine trips around the city
Trouble is brewing within the Foodies in Hyderabad group, one of the city’s largest ‘common interest’ groups with over 17,000 members.

One Mr A, a senior member of the group stands accused of ‘molesting a fellow member’.  In a thread on Facebook, other seniors are now appealing to members to steer clear of Mr A because of his “questionable character”. Other posts, while also naming him in full, also claim that this incident “was not a first from him”. Mr A has also been dismissed from the group.

Ajay, a member who had first posted about the incident, said: “I was shocked to hear that an admin of the group had been involved in not just one, but several such incidents. When I heard what happened recently, I decided to inform others. The decision to eliminate him from the group was taken only after talking to 100 members of the group.”

Another active member of the group said, “I had sent him many messages asking him watch his behaviour, so that the group is not defamed. I was not witness to the incident but that one post led to many others claiming that it had happened before. He has also been asked to leave many restaurants because he would pick up fights.”

However, the group’s case seems to be banking on the numerous complaints that have poured in. Mr A’s own version of events is very different and he also said that he’s currently in talks with lawyers on how to proceed.

Mr A does have an explanation. “This girl has been flirting with me since a month. She had even come over to my place and recently, she invited me over to her place, late in the night. When the ‘incident’ took place, I did have a few drinks but since she was fooling around with another guy, I got a little upset and that has resulted in this accusation.”

The girl, however, does not want to take action against the accused.
