Telengana Rashtriya Samiti, Bharatiya Janata Party lists only after April 6
Both parties are waiting for the completion of the first phase polling of panchayat elections
Hyderabad: The process to file nominations for the general elections is set to begin from April 2 but there is no possibility of the TRS and the BJP releasing their list of candidates till April 6.
This would mean candidates from both these major parties in the Telangana region will start filing nominations only between April 7 and 9 with the deadline being April 9.
These parties are said to be awaiting the first phase polling of panchayat elections on April 6 to be completed before coming out with their lists. They are worried that if the list is announced before April 6, those who fail to secure tickets may mar the party’s prospects by joining rival parties.
Though both TRS and Telangana BJP have ruled out pre-poll alliance with the Congress and TDP respectively, the top leaders of both TRS and BJP still expect last minute twists and turns on tie-ups.
This uncertainty has been causing tremendous anxiety among ticket aspirants in both the TDP and BJP as they are totally clueless on whether they would get a chance to contest or not or whether they would have to sacrifice their seats if poll alliances fructify at a later stage.
Unable to cope up with this uncertainty, many ticket aspirants at the Assembly constituency level in the city have already started campaigning and are trying to put pressure on their respective party high commands to allot tickets to them, irrespective of an alliance or not. The competition among ticket aspirants seems to be more in BJP in the city compared to TRS.
