Vivek may go back to Congress
Vivek had shifted loyalties from the Congress to the TRS in June 2013
Karimnagar: Peddapalli MP Dr G. Vivek is trying to return to the Congress, reportedly after TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his disinterest in making a Dalit the first Chief Minister of Telangana.
Mr Vivek had shifted loyalties from the Congress to the TRS in June 2013, driven by pro-statehood sentiments. He was considered to be a frontrunner for the CM’s post following Mr Chandrasekhar Rao’s announcement that a Dalit would be nominated as CM.
But with Mr Rao making no move on the offer, Dr Vivek is believed to be disappointed. He has reportedly been meeting top leaders of the Congress in Delhi since March 28, seeking re-entry into the party and a ticket from Peddapally.
Dr Vivek told DC from the capital: “I am still trying to strike an alliance between the TRS and the Congress. I think that would be better for Telangana.”
On his return to the Congress he said, “I may have to take a decision on returning to the Congress. There is a lot of pressure on me from my family as well as from the Congress high command. I may announce a decision soon.”
