Hyderabad: It’s going to be a big fight for the Guntur Lok Sabha seat. The three-cornered fight is among three rich businessmen, M. Udaia Kumar of the Indian Christian Secular Party, YSR Congress candidate Vallabhaneni Balashowry and the Telugu Desam’s choice Galla Jayadev.

Mr Balashowry is the director of Kineta International and other companies and in 2009 had declared assets of more than Rs 100 crore. Mr Galla Jayadev owns the Amar Raja group of companies, which includes Amar Raja batteries.

Mr Udaia Kumar sits on a Rs 3,000 crore empire that includes Share Microfin and Asmitha Microfin. He is an MBA and holds management degrees from UK universities. He is contesting from a little known Indian Christian Secular Party, a Tamil Nadu based party of which he was made president recently.

Analysts say that this party, which started its activity only a few weeks ago, is banking on dalit and minority votes. If the party is successful in rallying these groups, it may dent the vote bank of the YSR Congress in certain constituencies in the state where it is in a neck to neck fight with the TD.

Mr Udaia Kumar, though, says his party does not want to play the spoiler.
