No AIADMK kar sevaks: BJP
BJP made it clear that no kar sevaks from AIADMK were sent to Ayodhya in 1991
Chennai: Making it clear that no kar sevaks from AIADMK were sent to Ayodhya in 1991, the BJP here has accused the opposition DMK of indulging in a misinformation campaign.
Giving credence to chief minister J. Jayalalithaa’s statement that her party did not send kar sevaks to Ayodhya, BJP national executive member L. Ganesan says, “No kar sevaks from the AIADMK figured on my list.” Mr Ganesan who had been the TN convener for sending kar sevaks then, claims that AIADMK had then supported the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement.
“DMK is wrongly accusing the AIADMK of being part of the kar seva. It is a fact that AIADMK supported the Ram Janmabhoomi movement but did not send any workers for the kar seva. I was the state convener for Tamil Nadu and sent kar sevaks. No AIADMK members were in my list. I want to point out to the DMK that by indulging in such false campaign, AIADMK will benefit,” he said on Monday.
While campaigning in Cuddalore recently, AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa denied DMK chief M. Karunanidhi’s claim that AIADMK had sent kar sevaks to Ayodhya in 1991 and had asked why DMK joined hands with BJP in 1999.
Mr Ganesan ridiculed the DMK for accusing other parties on corruption and said anyone could talk about ‘a corrupt Congress’, but not the DMK, which was a constituent of the UPA government. “It is just like a thief shouting ‘thief’ and running in the crowd. They have no right to promise to people. For several years as Gujarat chief minsiter Narendra Modi has been ensuring corruption-free governance and that is why we say only Modi can deliver good governance,” pointed out Ganesan contesting in South Chennai constituency.
