Chennai: Passing on the legacy of music to the next generation of the same family has been a trend now in Kollywood.

The latest to join it is renowned playback singer Unnikrishnan’s nine-year-old daughter, Uthara, who has been roped in by composer and actor G.V Prakash for director A.L. Vijay’s next film, Saivam.

Uthara will be singing playback for Baby Sarah for a song, Azhage Azhage written by Na Muthukumar.

“Initially, it was GV’s wife, Saindhavi, who asked me to bring my daughter to the recording studio,” says Unnikrishnan.

“Uthara had a cold that day, still performed well. G.V and others really liked the recording, and director Vijay said that he was happy to have found a voice that matched Baby Sarah’s. Uthara has always been interested in music and practise on a regular basis. My son is a pianist, and Uthara sings when he plays the instrument every evening.”  Saivam features actor Nasser in the lead and the cinematographer of the film is Nirav Shah.
