Coimbatore: Hitting back at the Opposition over the industrial climate in Tamil Nadu, chief minister and AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa on Tuesday accused them of indulging in a “false propaganda” that industries were shifting to Karnataka due to “negligence” by her government.

“When Karnataka was trying to woo industries to Chamrajnagar,  industries here said that they had not expressed any interest to go there,” she said addressing an election rally here.

“The number of industries has grown to reach 40,352 till March 2013 as against the 26,122 industries in the state during 2008-09. The number of labourers too has seen an increase with total numbering over 1.6 crore from the around 84.21 lakh during the DMK regime,” she said.

She said Tamil Nadu stood first in the list of states favourable to start industries and Karnataka had been pushed to the second slot next only to Tamil Nadu. “People need not worry about power crisis, for the state soon will  become power-cut free,” she said.
