I am in awe of Balayya: Sonal Chauhan
Sonal Chauhan talks about the success of 'Legend', and working with the man himself
Hyderabad: 'Jannat' girl Sonal Chauhan these days is riding high on the success of 'Legend'. Talking about how the role came to her, she says, “It was instant. I was asked to meet the director and actor once and that’s when I thought I would be lucky to work with this great team. I was immediately signed on for the role.”
All praises for Balakrishna, she says, “I had heard that Balakrishna was short-tempered, full of attitude and other stuff. All this made me more nervous to face him. But at the same time, I was also anxious to know how working with him would turn out. Trust me, when I met him everything was just the opposite. His dancing too was just fantastic.”
Talking about possible differences between Tollywood and Bollywood, the actress says, “Except for the language, there’s no big difference really. And as far as acting in different cinemas goes, state and language should never prove to be a barrier for an actor.”
Sonal confirms that after Legend, the offers have started to pour in, and that she could be here in Hyderabad longer. “I have not signed on the dotted line for any movies, so far. But there’s a Bollywood film in the pipeline and there could be more Telugu projects for me. I feel that it’s only because of the audiences that I am what I am today and all the credit for Legend’s big success goes to them and the hard- working team,” she adds.
The actress also does not have any problems doing bold roles, but her definition of bold is different. “According to me, bold doesn’t mean skin show. It might be shaving one’s head or going for a deglam role. These are some bold roles that I wish to do,”she added.
Sonal is also aware that Tollywood shares a rather close relationship with the state’s politics. “I really think the youth should start taking charge of the situation. If given a chance, I will definitely be part of change... not as an all-out politician but as a citizen of the country.”
