'Vishwas' cards issued in Muzaffarnagar to gain voters confidence
Muzaffarnagar: The district authorities have issued 'Vishvas' cards to thousands of voters to seek their confidence in ensuring fair and free polls and enable them to cast their vote without any fear.
The cards contain mobile numbers of the district authorities in case a card holder encounters any pressure or influence during voting, district officials said. "Security would be provided immediately to the complainant", said H N Singh.
Along with Vishwas cards, another set of cards named as 'Chetavani' card, were also issued to people, who could indulge in poll violence ahead of Lok Sabha polls in the district.
Describing the move as a precautionary measure, Singh said those with red cards would be held responsible for disruptions and incidents of violence during elections.
Meanwhile, tight security arrangements would be put up for the first phase of the polls in the state. He also said that Punjab police and paramilitary force would be deployed in the district.
