Kochi: A special investigation team has been constituted to investigate the shocking murders at Vadakkekara near North Paravur in which one elderly couple was killed.
The Aluva deputy superintendent V.K. Sanil Kumar is leading the investigation with circle inspectors of North Paravur and Vadakkekara and sub inspectors of Vadakkekara and Puthenvelikkara assisting him. The SIT took the statements of close relatives, neighbours and friends of the dead couple as the cops are suspecting that revenge could be a motive for the murders.
“There was only a gold chain missing from the house. If the murders were an extension of a robbery, there were other valuable items at their residence which could have easily been taken after the murders. But those items were all left behind. There is something fishy,” the Vadakkekara sub inspector said.
The cops also said there were no CCTVs near the house although it is located close to the National Highway. The police is hoping someone would come forward to give a significant clue so investigation can go forward.
“We took the statements of the people who knew the couple. They all said there was no reason for anybody to kill the duo. But further investigations have to be conducted to confirm the real motive,” the police added.
Jose (72) of Kuniyanthodathu House at Vadakkekkara and his wife Rosily (68) were found murdered at their residence at Thiruthippuram at Vadakkekkara near North Paravur. A few election campaigners, who went to their home seeking vote for the parliament elections, were the ones who first saw the dead bodies and informed the police. Jose’s body was found on the first floor of the house. His wife’s body was found near the staircase leading to the first floor.
Jose was a retired engineer in the defence service and Rosily was a retired teacher. Jose was also working for a private contract firm since retirement.
According to police, the couple’s son, one Roja, is an accused in a sex assault case under North Paravur police station. He has been absconding for the last one year. It is also learnt that Roja’s wife had lodged a land dispute case against Jose and Rosily. The dead couple had won the case recently. They also have a daughter – Roshin, who is living abroad.
