K.Chandrasekhar Rao releases TRS list
TRS supremo hopeful of winning 75 seats in state legislation
Hyderabad: Ruling out alliances and asserting that the party will go it alone in the 2014 Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced the first list of the party’s Assembly candidates on Friday.
“The TRS will form the next government. As per our survey, the TRS will win 75 Assembly and 14 Lok Sabha constituencies. The survey indicates that the Congress may get 23 to 35 Assembly seats. People have to decide whether they want a proxy Andhra government in Telangana, or self rule,” Mr Rao said, who will be contesting from Gajwel Assembly constituency.
A superstitious Mr Rao announced the list at the muhurtham time of 10.57 am at the Telangana Bhavan. Mr Rao made the nominees take a vow before the Talli Telangana statue in Telangana Bhavan to wipe out political corruption and work with commitment.
The list of 69 includes 19 Reddys, 10 Velmas (the community to which Mr Rao belongs), 15 Backward Classes and seven women, two Brahmins, besides Schedules Castes and Tribes in reserved constituencies, and one Muslim.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ponnala Laxmaiah termed the TRS manifesto as an “Aladdin’s magic lamp”.
