Varun Dhawan couldn’t be happier with the response to his second film. Main Tera Hero, that has him play the solo lead for the first time, has got him many accolades in a very short time. And he in turn thanks his father and the director of the film David Dhawan for everything.
“As an actor and a fan of David Dhawan, it was a dream come true to be directed by him. I wanted today’s generation to connect with the kind of films that my dad has made over the last two decades. He knows how to spin around a perfect entertainer and the results are there for all to see,” says Varun.
Juggling everything, right from action, comedy, romance to dance and drama wasn’t a cakewalk for him, considering he was just one film old when he started work on this film. “My job was to put smiles on the faces of the audience and trust me, it is the most difficult thing to do,” says Varun. “That’s where dad’s experience came to play. He didn’t want me to get into this superhero mode; he wanted my character to stay believable. I knew from the start that I wouldn’t be beating up 40 goons at a time.”
Now that the film is doing well, Varun is a relieved man. “I was very nervous before the release. But I guess the audience was looking for brand David Dhawan and I maintain that he’s the real hero of the film,” he says.
