Ailing senior BJP leader and former Union minister, Ale Narendra, passed away
Hyderabad: Ailing senior BJP leader and former Union minister, Ale Narendra, passed away here on Wednesday.
Mr Narendra, 68, had not been keeping well and had been admitted to a hospital in Nampally, where he breathed his last.
Born on August 26, 1946 in Aliabad in the old city, he is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
Popularly known as “Tiger Narendra”, he held a sway over people in the old city during the cold war with rival MIM party and had been arrested several times during communal flare ups.
He was also MLA between 1983 and 1994 from the Himayathnagar Assembly constituency.
In 2004, he became MP and was appointed Union Minister of State for Rural Development.
He had floated the Telangana Sadhana Samithi, but later merged the party with KCR’s Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
He fell out with KCR and was suspended from the party. He moved with Congress for a while and finally returned to the BJP in 2011.
Telangana BJP president, G. Kishan Reddy, TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu and others condoled his death.
