Rajahmundry: A pamphlet issued in the name of West Godavari district medical and health officer asking the staff to support the YSR Congress in the ensuing polls became controversial in West Godavari, Krishna and Khmmam districts on Wednesday.

The handbill bearing the portraits of YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, DMHO Dr T. Sakunthala, YSRC symbol fan on the top and with a title “Let us vote for fan symbol”, and also having the signature of the official, is being circulated among medical staff in the three districts.

When contacted, DMHO Dr Sakunthala said, “I don’t know anything about the pamphlet. This is a conspiracy to tarnish my image. They want to move me out from my office so that they can occupy it. It is unfair to go to such an extent. I have informed the collector. I have lodged a complaint with the SP and also informed the commissioner for family welfare. I am also going to file a case against the culprits for harassing me.”

Telugu Desam leader Palika Prasad, “We have complained to the collector about it seeking action against her. I wonder as to how a government official can openly issue a letter supporting a political party. If she wants to do so, let her quit the office and do whatever she likes. As the pamphlet bears her signature, it is issued by her only.”

Meanwhile, collector Neethu Kumari Prasad directed the joint collector to inquire into the issue.
