Karimnagar: Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna on Thursday confirmed he will not contest elections but will campaign for his party TDP in Telangana.

"As of now, I have not thought of contesting elections. However, I will rethink my stand in case the high command directs me (to fight polls)," he said.

However, the 53-year-old actor-politician said he will campaign for the TDP in Telangana and strengthen the party in the region, which will become a State on June 2.

Andhra Pradesh will vote in two phases (April 30 and May 7) for Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, which will be held simultaneously.

Balakrishna, the son of legendary Telugu actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N T Rama Rao, was talking to reporters at Dharmapuri temple town, about 70km from here.

The filmstar, who earlier had a darshan of Lord Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy, said he thanked God for  the success of his latest film 'Legend'.
