PV Sindhu enters round 2, while Saina crashes out

The young shuttler clinches a hard fought victory in round one

New Delhi: P. V. Sindhu made her way to pre quarterfinals round  of the   Singapore Super Series on Wednesday after securing a 21-9, 19-21, 22-20 victory over Millicent Wiranto of Indonesia in  women’s singleIndia’s ace shuttler Saina Nehwal’s poor form in the international arena continued as she crashed out of the tournament after she  
lost 21-16, 15-21, 11-21 to lower ranked Eriko Hirose of Japan.
 
Other Indians in the fray  B. Sai Praneeth, H.S. Prannoy and P.C. Thulasi  all advanced to the second round of the tournament with contrasting victories. Thulasi notched up a 21-13, 21-16 victory over New Zealand’s Anna Rankin to set up a second round clash with world No.2  Chinese Yihan Wang. In another match, Arundhati Pantawane lost to Japanese Shizuka Uchida 21-16, 11-21, 15-21.
 
Earlier in the day, world No.45 Sai Praneeth defeated Malaysia’s Mohammad Arif Abdul Latif 21-13, 21-15. Prannoy too produced a good show to prevail over Thailand’s Thammasin Sitthikom 21-17, 14-21, 21-11.
