Hyderabad: Director Surender Reddy and Allu Arjun have teamed up for the first time in Race Gurram. Shruti Haasan plays the female lead in the movie.

Ram (Kick Shyam) and Lakshman alias Lucky (Allu Arjun) are brothers. They are totally opposite characters with Ram being a diligent police officer, while Lucky is a carefree guy. Right from childhood they play pranks on each other and fight over petty issues. The sibling spats grow along with time.

Lucky falls for Spandana (Shruti Haasan). Later, she too falls in love with him. When everybody is happy, the goon Siva Reddy (Ravi Kishan) enters. He wants to become a politician and files papers to contest in the elections. Ram wants to stop him from contesting the elections and goes with proof to arrest Siva Reddy.

Siva Reddy tries to kill Ram.

Meanwhile, Lucky comes to know about it and attacks Siva Reddy. An angry Siva Reddy goes on to become a minister and decides to take revenge on Lucky’s family.

How Lucky saves his family with the help of Govardhan (Posani Krishna Murali) and Kill Bill Pandey (Brahmanandam) forms the crux of the story.

Though the story is predictable and has nothing new, the director has used the right commercial elements and packaged the
film with loads of entertainment. The way the director has made Allu Arjun pronounce the word Devuda is hilarious. Technically, the movie has good visuals and Thaman’s music is good. Vema Reddy’s dialogues are impressive.

Allu Arjun definitely steals the show with his energetic performance. He is good with his comedy timing and has also improved a lot as an actor. He actually carries the film on his shoulders. His dancing skills are utilised well too.

Though Shruti Haasan does not have much to portray, she plays her part well and looks glamorous, particularly in the songs.
Another person who steals the show is Brahmanandam who plays Kill Bill Pandey. The last half-an-hour belongs to Brahmi and he dominates the film and makes you laugh.

Prakash Raj appears in a small, well-played role. Bharani, M.S. Narayana, Posani Krishna Murali, J.P. and Ali also do their part well. Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan makes his debut as a villain and leaves his mark on the film.

Race Gurram is a typical formula film, but is full paisa-vasool!
